The Fresh 48

Max Josiah Gallegos
Born May 6th, 2014. 9 lbs 2 oz

My wonderful friend Dawn Kitley (who just so happens to be a highly skilled photographer) came to visit us at the hospital after Max was born.  She took some stunning images of Max, Moises, and myself, just the 3 of us, while our little guy was still less than 24 hours old.  This style of photoshoot is known as the "fresh 48."
I can NOT believe it has taken me 6 months to share them!

Wow.  Hard to believe so much time has passed!  What a wonderful addition this little one has been to our family.

The Pink Curlers

The pink curlers!!  This is such a fond memory for me of my childhood.  Growing up, it seemed that every Saturday night my mom would put pink foam curlers in my sister's and my hair.   We just had to have cute, curly hair for Sunday morning church. I have distinct memories of how it felt to go to sleep with foam bumps all over my head.  Today while shopping at Walmart (Gasp!  Yes, I shamelessly shop at Walmart) I found some!  It was completely worth the $2 I spent to see Lexi's hair all curled up.  SO cute and SO funny!!
She kept them in for about an hour or so then she started pulling them out one by one.  Thus, there is no "after" picture.  Maybe next time.  Until then, these "before" pictures are still quite lovely and entertaining.

A lil' After Nap Sunshine

We had a surprisingly sunshiny day here today.  It was quite refreshing and unexpected for mid January, but there were no complaints around the Gallegos household!  After naptime the kids and I went outside and played around in the back yard.  It was so nice to have a break from our typical outings and indoor activities.  Anything to help with cabin fever is always welcomed here during the winter!
Levi ~ Just turned 3 years old
As I was watching the kids play together it donned on me that I haven't taken pictures of them in quite some time.  In fact, I couldn't even remember the last time I pulled out the good camera and just shot some pics of them playing around.  Total mom guilt instantly sank into my heart!!  I would love to insert here a tiny blurb of how busy I've been, or how chaotic life has been, or some other tear-jerker excuse as to why I've neglected to capture snapshots of the kids lately but I really have no good excuse.  Well, no excuse good enough that 10 years from now I'll be "understanding" of the fact that I didn't take pictures of my kids during the past few months.
Lexi ~ 19 months old

SOOOO, I whipped out the camera and clicked away.  The kids must have missed our little photo shoots because they were quite excited and more than willing to smile and say CHEESE to the camera (which almost NEVER happens).  Lexi loved it so much she couldn't stop; even after I put the camera away, everytime I looked at her she would smile and say "Cheeeeeeeeese!!"  So cute!  These 2 kids are quite awesome in my opinion.  They just seem to get better and better every day!

Cheerios in a bowl of rain water anyone??

She's going to be famous for that Duck Face one of these days!

They love playing together!! Okay, not ALL the time (they are siblings, people), let's just say most of the time.

Please forgive the post-nap hair, we were playing too hard and having too much fun to worry about crazy hair.

Just assume that if there's dirt outside, Levi has found it, and is therefore wearing some of it.

If only you could hear how sweet her little "cheeeeeeese" sounds!!

Even Buzz came outside to play for a bit.  (That toy was Levi's Christmas present.  You will rarely find Levi at home without Buzz Lightyear being close by.)

Well...not every "cheeeese" creates the perfect smile. Adorable pictures, however, come with almost EVERY "cheeeese!"
