The 34 weeks late Announcement (Playing Catch Up...)

So, if blogging about my family was my occupation, I would SO be fired!  Actually, I would be going on my SIXTH MONTH of unemployment!  Yes, I have officially become a horrible blogger, in that my last post was from back in November, 2011 where I shared about our first visit to a pumpkin patch.  Now, here it is the end of spring with summer just around the corner, and I'm finally getting back to the blog.  For my family who doesn't get to see Levi on a daily basis, I sincerely apologize!  I will do my best to get this blog back up-to-date and keep it that way.
Just to show how much time has truly passed - Here is Levi in November at 10 1/2 months old.  He sits, he crawls, but very little standing and no walking yet.

Today - Levi at 16 months old.  He's really grown a lot over the past 6 months!  Here he is doing what he loves - running!  He's rather quick, too.

Wow, so much really has happened over the past six months.  I do plan to go back and re-post about most of it, so just be patient and bear with me because there is quite a bit to catch up on.

Perhaps the biggest news that I neglected to write about was the fact that we are expecting our second child this summer!  June 23rd is the official due date, which means that as of today I am 34 weeks pregnant.  Only 6 weeks left... (slow, deep breath, Laura... and repeat... slow, deep breath...).  Ha!
Here's the picture we gave my Dad and step-mom as an announcement that we were expecting again.  On the bottom of their picture it read "Gallegos - Family of Four - June 2012"
This is how Moises found out.  He came home to cupcakes and a sign sitting on the kitchen table!  The cupcakes are a little kindergarten-ish, but I did what I could with what I had at home.  And Moises didn't even notice their lack of quality anyways. =)
Actually, we are getting pretty excited, especially since this time around we are expecting a GIRL!!!  Or, so we think.  In case you haven't heard the story, we've taken 3 sneak peaks inside this uterus of mine.  The first peak was an unofficial, super secret sneak peak at work, at a very early 17 weeks gestation (not so super secret anymore, I guess!).  The initial verdict was that we were having a boy.  Yeah!  We were super excited.  We even had my good friend Danielle make us a gender cake to reveal the gender to us.  So Moises, Levi and I cut into the cake to find out it was blue - such a fun way to find out the baby's gender!

Well, about 3 weeks later we had our official ultrasound and anatomy scan.  Believe it or not, the ultrasound tech told us she thought we were having a girl, but couldn't guarantee it due to the position of the umbilical cord!  I could not stop smiling, and not because I was excited about a girl, but because this left us with NO IDEA what this baby was. (AND I thought it was even funnier that we had already announced to the world we were having a boy!)  I found myself pretty giddy about the idea of not knowing.  However, curiosity ultimately took over - I felt like we had already opened the flood gates by peaking at the baby twice, and the uncertainty of gender was just too much at that point.  So naturally a third ultrasound was in order, and another under cover, super stealth, ninja-like sneak peak took place.  Girl it is!!  Yes, there's always a chance this not so tiny human inside of me is a boy, but we feel like the odds are in favor of a girl, so we are proceeding as such and preparing to bring home a little misses in June.
Long story, I know.  But for us it's a fun story and one we don't want to forget.  AND, it will be even MORE fun if we do end up with a boy!  I'm pretty sure I will be laughing for years if that's the case.  Either way, no matter what, we already love baby #2.  God has already blessed us with the most amazing son we could have ever imagined - can't wait to see what God has planned for the next one!!
