Lexi Jane has joined la familia!

Would you believe it's already been 4 weeks since we became a family of four?!?  That means we now have a one month old daughter and a 19 month old son.  That's just crazy to think about.  The other day I caught myself saying "the kids" for the first time and it really took me back a minute.
It has definitely taken a bit for us as a family to adjust, but now that we're one month in life is starting develop into a new sense of normal.

At this point I should let you in on a little secret... Would you believe that today is actually the first time I have gone back and looked at all the pictures of our time in the hospital with Lexi?  It only took me a whole 4 weeks.  If that doesn't paint a picture of how crazy our lives have been I don't know what will.  Anyways, I guess it's about time we got to sharing those pictures and telling our story, so here ya go!

Here we are about to leave for the hospital.
The day finally came when we welcomed our second child into the world.  On June 19, 2012, at 1517,  Lexi Jane Gallegos was born.  She weighed in at an itsy bitsy 7 lbs 12 oz, and 19 1/4 inches long.  We had been scheduled that morning for a repeat c-section.  Having another major surgery was never an ideal situation to me, however knowing what the prize was in the end made it all worth the while.  I'm thankful God kept us in his loving hands, and kept both Lexi and me safe and healthy throughout the procedure (I did have a hypotensive episode after my spinal was placed, which was a horrible thing to go through.  But that only lasted a few minutes, and the rest of the procedure went on fantastically).  I'm also forever grateful for my wonderful, loving husband who endured my stress and anxiety, and loved me through the entire pregnancy and all through out recovery from the surgery.  You know, God always knows what he's doing, and he has promised to always take care of his children.  We got to witness God's love and protection first hand this day as he blessed us in the birth of our precious sweet pea, Lexi.

Here we are waiting in the triage room.  We showed up right on time at 10am for our "noon procedure."  Well, they were VERY busy that day, so we ended up having to wait about 5 hours.

Dressed and ready to go, but still waiting.  They were actually so busy that we still weren't assigned a nurse yet, and still had no idea how much longer our wait would be.

Moises "Tebow-ing" in his O.R. gear.

Ummm, is it obvious yet that we had some time to kill?

This is my "Waiting patiently and anxiously, but I'm SO hungry right now" look.  18 hours without eating anything isn't all that fun when you're pregnant (or even when your not for that matter!).

Enjoying some nice music in the O.R. and talking to Moises during the procedure.

There she is!  Born at 1517hrs.

Meeting Lexi face to face for the first time.  My first thoughts were about how tiny she was and about how much she reminded me of Levi.

Lexi, Mommy and Daddy

She was SO tiny!  Possibly one of the smallest babies born on my side of the family.

This one shows off her head full of dark hair.

I love this one.  Her first smile. =)

Moises counting fingers...

and toes!

This picture showed up randomly in the middle of all the others, I'm pretty sure this was Moises lunch when he finally got a minute to step out.  Lucky guy, I would have loved a Cheeto at that moment! ;)

This one is a horrible angle showing up my triple decker chin, but I love my husband and daughter so this pic made it on the blog.

Levi became a big brother on his half birthday! Levi and Lexi are 18 months apart to the day!

Giving his sister her first kiss.

Not too sure what to think just yet.

I love this one!  She definitely has her Dad's traits and he's got his mom's.

Alissa!  The first non-Gallegos to ever hold Lexi.

A family of FOUR!

About to head home.  This picture makes me laugh because it looks like it was taken by someone only 3 feet tall.

Good bye St. Peter's Hospital!  Time to take this sweet pea home!

  1. She's perfect!! I have to laugh though because you kept mentioning how small she was! At 7lbs 12 oz, she's bigger than my biggest! :-)

    1. I know! We keep saying that also, she's really just an average size baby, but in our family she is considered tiny. And compared to our 9lb 7oz Levi, she just looked super small to us. ;)
